ChromaWays RBN Selected to Participate in EU Blockchain PCP

The Swedish based company ChromaWay AB is one of seven blockchain companies selected to participate in the European Blockchain Pre-Commercial Procurement (EU Blockchain PCP).

This procurement is comparing different blockchain solutions to test which ones could bring the most promising improvements to future versions of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI). The EBSI initiative was established by the European Blockchain Partnership (EBP), which is a cooperation between the European Commission, all EU member states and additional member states from the European Economic Area — to implement cross-border services using blockchain technologies. The EBP aims to achieve this through EBSI which enables the EU to deliver public service dapps through their network.

The seven candidates were narrowed down from a field of 30+ applicants. Companies were selected based on their ability to provide scalability, throughput, interoperability, security, energy efficiency, and robustness. ChromaWay AB’s relational blockchain technologies make it a strong contender, due to it’s dynamically scaling design, dual focus on both Layer-1 and Layer-2 solutions, and greatly enhanced data handling capabilities compared to traditional blockchains.

All seven candidates will participate in a multiphase selection process, with the field of being gradually narrowed down over the course of several months. The official press release regarding this initiative, including a full timeline and list of candidates, can be viewed on the official European Commision website.

The European Blockchain Pre-Commercial Procurement tender is currently in Phase 2A (prototype development and lab testing) which will continue until mid-2022 after which the number of contractors will be narrowed again prior to the beginning of Phase 2B (final solution development and field testing). Over the coming months, ChromaWay will be publishing a series of articles describing the advantages and use cases of Relational Blockchain Nebula.
