RBN Ecosystem and our Achievements in 2023

Pioneering the Blockchain Frontier in the EU

Since its inception in 2014, ChromaWay has been at the forefront of blockchain technology, making significant strides in the European blockchain landscape. With a global team of over 200 experts, ChromaWay has not only developed the innovative Relational Blockchain Nebula but also earned recognition as one of the top three blockchain solution providers in the European Blockchain Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) project, starting in late 2020.

This year marks a milestone for ChromaWay's RBN Ecosystem, with the successful conclusion of Phase 2B of the PCP. This achievement cements the company's reputation as a trusted partner for various organisations and governmental entities. ChromaWay's involvement in the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) has been paramount for RBNs development as it has evolved during the PCP project. Throughout our journey and advancement of the phase 2B of the PCP we have come a long way, with highlights such as:

  • RBN Ecosystem and Infrastructure:
Building the network that connects to the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI), with deployment in all 27 EU Member States + Norway and Liechtenstein. A tailored infrastructure for EU Compliance, integrating with already existing EU Blockchain apparatuses and various regulatory frameworks.

  • Built with Chromia Technology & Relational Blockchain:
RBN's relational blockchain technology offers enterprises and public actors a unique opportunity to harness the power of relational blockchain technology. Our unique combination of affordability, speed, scalability, and sustainability sets us apart from the competition, enabling users to take control of their data and assets. We are committed to empowering our partners by providing a collaborative and transparent solution that emphasises trust.

  • Building two Flagship Dapps:
Our two dapps being built on the RBN Ecosystem in collaboration with the EU, are the first additions to our ecosystem that looks into the use cases of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Digital Product Passports (DPP). With the goal of giving power to the public.

  • New Brand and Defined Communication:
A new and comprehensive brand identity to propel us into 2024 with defined communications, such as a brand framework entailing our vision, mission and position. RBN seeks to serve the public sector well and to foster an equitable future.

  • Blockchain as a Service:
At the heart of RBN is the concept of building relationships and trust between parties. With our relational blockchain technology. RBN is designed to empower users, allowing organisations to take control of their data and assets. With RBN your organisation will get a collaborative partner to help define, develop and deploy your decentralised application.

A Tailored Infrastructure for EU Compliance

ChromaWay created the RBN ecosystem as a response to the EU PCP-Project, a customised infrastructure built with Chromia Technology with its own network to meet EU requirements.

In a significant leap towards EU Compliance, RBN integrates with the Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) model for authentication, specifically the European SSI Framework (ESSIF). Utilising Decentralised Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials. The integration includes a wallet based on walt.id, that supports the EU trust model. ESSIF operates atop of EBSI, facilitating the issuance and validation of verifiable credentials as part of the broader SSI model.

Our RBN authentication model together with ESSIF integration is subject to eIDAS regulation. Which could include for example European Wallet integration, which all falls under the same subject of the EU trust model. This setup ensures a distributed trust mechanism, leveraging EBSI and DIDs to authenticate operators without compromising user privacy.

This integration exemplifies RBNs commitment to foster an equitable future, ensuring that dapps on its network serve the public sector effectively and are compliant with SSI regulations. This is but a first step in integrating RBNs Nebula Architecture and next-gen dapps within the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure.

As the end of 2023 is approaching, it also concludes our part within the EU Blockchain PCP. And with over 300 + technical reports, further developing the Nebula Architecture, as well as building two flagship dapps already. We are excited to continuously explore how our technology can further integrate with EBSI with added functionality to make our dapps even more compliant with EU initiatives. And with the recent establishment of the European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC) for the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI). It signifies the creation of a legally recognized entity capable of ensuring the long-term sustainability, procurement, and operation of blockchain infrastructure, with agile and flexible governance inclusive of EU Commission and member states. This marks a new chapter in EU Blockchain initiatives and the RBN Team views this evolution as an opportunity to explore new applications and collaborations under the EDIC framework.

Our Flagship Dapps | DPP & IPR

ChromaWay is progressing rapidly with two dynamic dapps being already built on the RBN Ecosystem, focusing on "Digital Product Passports (DPP) for Supply Chain Traceability" and an "Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Marketplace." These dapps are being developed in close collaboration with the European Union, addressing crucial use cases where innovation is critically needed. The DPP and IPR dapps are pivotal in helping enterprises and public actors comply with evolving regulatory requirements, enhancing transparency and streamlining complex processes.

Building on the momentum of our innovative dapps, our partnerships extend to notable industry players like BLK DNM, a Stockholm based fashion company. And DigIP, a Stockholm based trademark registration & protection company. Reflecting our dedication to broadening blockchain's reach across diverse sectors.

Our innovative DPP dapp is a prime example of this effort. Our partnership with BLK DNM, the first stakeholder involved in testing the DPP dapp functionalities. Which further extends to Italian clothing manufacturer INCOM, which demonstrates the practical application and impact of our blockchain solutions in the real world. This venture is poised to transform the manufacturing process into traceable goods by integrating Digital Product Passports. Each product processed by INCOM will carry a unique digital passport, detailing its entire journey and sustainability aspects. This initiative aligns with the shift towards a circular economy in fashion, emphasising product traceability, consumer information transparency, and responsible consumption. Our DPP dapp is also designed to further enable the traceability of other materials than the ones in textiles. Such as plastics and batteries.

Up to 80% of its garments are made of denim, thus the decision was made to design the DPP dapp with a specific focus on denim. During the EBSI PCP project the requirement was to develop a dapp for creating DPPs focusing on Textiles. Having succeeded with the Textiles use case Chromaway is now preparing to expand its DPP dapp to create DPPs for Batteries, Construction and other products.

Simultaneously, our partnership with DigIP is vital in enhancing our Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Marketplace dapp. This collaboration taps into DigIP's expertise in digital rights management, enriching our dapp with features that cater to the diverse needs of creators, innovators, and businesses in managing, licensing and monetizing their intellectual property.  The IPR dapp, fortified by DigIP's knowledge, simplifies IP rights management, enabling easy registration, verification, and ownership transfer of these rights. This ensures a user-friendly experience for a broad spectrum of users, ranging from entrepreneurs, agencies and to large corporations.

Integration with DigIP's AI adds benefits in searching and filtering through registered IP rights, providing clients valuable insights into the market they wish to enter. This capability allows them to strategically position their newly registered IP rights and gain a better understanding of the market dynamics. Furthermore, DigIP facilitates registration, verification, decentralised data transparency and ownership transfer not only for the primary marketplace represented by the IP rights but also for a secondary marketplace involving IP rights licensing. This opens up new and exciting possibilities for interaction and utilisation of IP rights, offering a dynamic and innovative approach to intellectual property management.

In the EBSI PCP project, the IPR dapp primarily centred around managing trademarks, ensuring proper licensing, facilitating transparent ownership exchanges, kick off DigIP integration to enhance client experience and ensure that all operations were performed legally. Following the success of the trademark use case, Chromaway is gearing up to enhance its IPR dapp. The upcoming additions include features such as an auction house, trademark tracing, watchlist, and an extended focus on handling Copyrights and Patents.

During the EBSI PCP project the focus for IPR dapp was on trademark management, licensing and transparent ownership exchange and assure that all operations were performed in a legal way by creating agreaments that will attest this. Having succeeded with trademark use case Chromaway is now preparing to expand its IPR dapp by adding more features to trademarks, like auction house, trademark tracing, watchlist and also tackle Copyrights and Patents.

In conclusion, ChromaWay's commitment to harnessing blockchain technology extends beyond creating cutting-edge solutions. It's about forging strategic partnerships, like those with BLK DNM and Digip, which play a significant role in applying blockchain effectively in varied sectors. These collaborations are not just about technological advancements; they embody our core principles of sustainability, transparency, and innovation, paving the way for a more equitable and efficient future in blockchain applications. Through these ventures, we aim to demonstrate the versatility and effectiveness of blockchain in transforming industry practices, setting new standards, and contributing to a sustainable global economy.

ChromaWays RBN is looking ahead to create an equitable future for all. Providing dApps that serve a public sector good.

Looking Ahead and Future Plans

ChromaWay's commitment to innovation is further demonstrated through its extensive testing programs, focusing on scalability, fault tolerance, Post Quantum Cryptography, and energy efficiency. The company is also developing a data privacy solution, underscoring its dedication to security and user privacy.

RBN is actively developing a governance model tailored to maximise public sector benefits. We are exploring a hybrid approach that balances public and private interests. This model is designed to facilitate the onboarding of entrepreneurs and businesses, enabling them to efficiently create and deploy dapps within the RBN Ecosystem. Our aim is to ensure a governance structure that supports innovation while aligning with the broader objectives of the public sector.

With a focus on interoperability and data exchange, the company is currently developing oracle patterns and exploring further integration possibilities with EVM and other blockchain solutions. This effort aligns with ChromaWay's commitment to support cross-chain communication and frictionless interoperability between blockchains, companies and countries, emphasising the company’s capacity for token exchange and upcoming functionalities in data management.

Furthermore we are defining our current two dapps business & pricing models. Researching customer segmentation and market research and undergoing brand strategies parallel to create two distinct brands for both DPP & IPR that is positioned in the market.

We are ready to take in new partnerships and further expand the ecosystem. If you are an entrepreneur, part of an organisation or a business who needs to realise an exciting use case and create a full fledged dapp. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
